Hello,

I am new here but I have a res for a couple of years now. However, i just realised that my water temperature is too high (I kept it at 80F, like for a youbg res, but she is now maybe about 5 in long).

She is in a 55 gallons with two water heater (2 x 200 W for redundancy). I was wondering how to best decrease the temperature and to what temperature

Thank you for your help.

2 x 200 W is a bit much. Most heaters also have thermostats to adjust temperature settings. I would unplug, wait a few minutes then remove one. Temps around 76F are what I aim for. Also, you need to make sure you have an accurate thermometer. I recommend having 2 different kinds to check... I personally use a temp gun and LCD sticky thermometer. Those little digital ones with a probe are not very accurate.
