I'll just quote someone I trust on this board to sum things up and that is a Steve.

" I have not seen that test before. Honestly, I'm all for keeping it simple and I don't test the water unless I feel something is very off. If things are going smoothly, I might wait a bit before a cleaning or change. If things are messy (lots of loose poop), then I'll go ahead to change sooner.

Quite simply if it works that's what counts and I have had great success with my 1500.

Just offering a way to see first hand from an old timer how a filter is doing , sorry you don't trust me or a simple test . That's your call , only in hobby 50 plus years and on forum a short time ,my suggestions are for the turtles to be happy and healthy.
