Lol. Maybe she is. Though her early present is going to be a shell scrub. She's still not shedding her scutes properly.

Replacing seemed to do the trick. No leaks since about 6 am this morning.

Good news ! Leaks can be a ______ !

I would keep the leaking canister and one day run some ultra fine 2000 grit wet dry sand paper on where the o rings sits. It will show high low spots by where it marks the plastic. They use such cheap plastic now a days to save them money and things are not machined / molded as well today. If its is uneven try an o ring "one" size thicker and you may be able to have a backup if the other ever breaks. To me worth a try or maybe I just have too much free time ? 8)
Some companies will custom make one. I used http://www.applerubber.com/
Back in my restoring days.

Thanks Steve and litefoot. Leaks are definitely a big pain in the you know what.

litefoot - my dad does business with Apple Rubber so I may give your idea a shot. Or I might just buy a new bottom at Big Al's since it's only $20.

Either way thanks to both for your assistance! :msgreen:

Decades ago when much younger I made my own using the cold vulcanizing technique . Made them sturdy and pliable. Now a days most everything is a throw away society ...

How's Sheldon's shell been doing ? Any photo's , Piggley want to say Hi !

That is pretty sweet. I must admit though, you are right. Today's society is mostly pitch it out and get a new one.

Sheldon's shell is a source of frustration. Even the vet can't figure out why she won't shed like a normal turtle. So I scrub (much to her chagrin) and make sure that she isn't getting another fungus. Hi to Piggley! I'll try and post pics later. :)

This one is one of the most recent pics I took. It's one of my favorites.

My Fluval 306 had a leak that sounds the same as what you are talking about. I replaced the oring and lubricated it (don't use vaseline though). That didn't do it. What did do it was replacing the Aqua stop valve. If you still get the leak you could try that?

Kingbird44 - It is my suspicion that the Aqua Stop valve was in fact the culprit. The valve broke in my hands when I attempted to put the filter back together. Since then, no leaks and the filter is purring like a kitten. I have ordered a new canister and o-ring from Big Al's because I threw out the old ones.

Thanks and I hope your leak stays away. :)
