I have a 55 gallon tank with a 60 gallon filter, I know the filtration is too low, but I've been doing water changes 3-5 times a week. I'm wanting to get a 120 gallon aquarium for my turtle but I know that will need a good filter and I'm not really wanting to drop 750$ plus tax on a tank and filter. My turtle is only a little over 2 inches and there is one small goldfish in there as well, I don't really expect the turtle and goldfish to stay friends too much longer lol. Anyways I'm wanting to get the 120 gallon tank and then maybe get the fluval fx6 in a month or 2 or should I get the filter first. I'm willing to do as many filter changes as I need. Thx for the advice!

Well, since you know you need to get both I would just get whichever you can get a deal on. It sounds like you have a lot of time if he's only 2". How much water is in the tank? You probably don't need to do that many changes.

Today I saw some at $275 with free shipping on the FX6. What kind of prices you see? At 2" you could use the FX6 cranked down a little on that 55 gallon and wait for tank , yes you do have some time.
At least wait until you know the sex for sure ! If male a 90 gallon is good for adult at 9" but females at 12" would need 120 gallons.

The water isn't really that great cause the food I have she will take a bite and whatever she gets from it she eats and the rest will just fall to the bottom and she'll go to the next piece. I don't know the gender I'm hoping for a girl but either way I have my heart kinda set on a 120 gallon tank. The tank is filled up all the way besides 3-4 inches. For the fx6 all I'm seeing is 330-350, where did u find that deal at?

You are like me I go with adult size all at once. I use 150 gallon stock tanks for years and that saves me a lot of money. Even a baby goes in a 150 gallon !

Eating habits that's weird, ever think about feed in another container to keep main tank cleaner ? My Piggley eats All with very little mess , he's like having a vacuum going all the time. Hence the name "Piggley" . What about other foods / types same thing ?

I'd set up a price alert... on Amazon it was $260 back in June and $170 at Petsmart during Black Friday. For eBay sellers, you just need to do your homework. I probably wouldn't unless it was an authorized seller and so you can get warranty support.
