Habitat - Indoor :: Need a new tank

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

You can make a feeder tank , I started with old 5 gallon bucket to see if it would work. Ten feeders in it had two females and little later hundreds of feeders ! Moved them to my plant tank and all good some forty years later. LPS feeders overcrowded , not well taken care of, if even feed and sickly. My feeders are healthy !
My Piggley LOVES' live / freeze-dried crickets. Hell he eats everything still ! That's how he got his name , Piggley !

Just not to often , crickets very high in protein , like 55% !!!

What kind of fish do you feed him? Today he is eating well and swimming. I am a happy RES person this morning!
Thanks for the info.

I breed goldfish and Rosy Red minnow's . Both egg layers. Some say fish are to fatty but I have done it all the time. Rosy Reds are a little better/ easier/smaller and once you have a good mated pair you will have more than you can deal with. I keep a cinder block in tank for them ,both love to stick there eggs on it. Both are used more as a treat not Piggleys regular diet. ( almost 4 now) , that would be too much protein. I keep his diet around 80% veggies at his age. Use to keep a bunch in tank with him but he catches to fast. Now a days feeders go in only now and then or when I'm out of town. The goldfish started with ten feeders , junk fish but over the years have gotten some great colors out of them. Have a 150 gallon goldfish pond to. Give a lot away to the kids in the neighborhood or when there parents forgot a present! I'm the fish/turtle man in the neighborhood. My breeders are in my plant tank outside on my breezeway . Setup all natural the feeders control any mosquitoes or any bugs , no filter , no chemicals just rain water and all has been good for years. Hyacinth , water lettuce , hornwort and a little anacharis. All free out my city park just quarantine and wash them well.
Be care with LPS feeders : overcrowded , under feed , sickly , diseased that's why I breed my own healthy!

Nice set up. Up here in Seattle we are limited to what we can do out doors during the winter months. But I'll try a little set up, I have a 10 gallon tank in the garage, I can start with.

That's great! You may never see minnow's or plants in that area BUT use a LPS or online just to get started. Anacharis and hornswort can be rooted being small tank you don't want to let them all float and block any light to the bottom. Same not to much lettuce floating either blocking light. An old tote , one that's long and flat would give more surface area if you go with all floating and these all can or will float. You could just do it in regular tank turtles love to play in them and if a lot sits on them to sleep ! They will eat them to and depending how messy your turtle eats may have some simple maintenance to do. The way Piggley eats not much of anything to clean up that's why I feed him in his tank. If I gave Piggley a slice of bread he would wipe down the tank so not to miss anything ! Haha... When I had my 18 year old Mickey he a VERY messy eater so feed him out the tank.
Then a few Rosy Reds to start. They are scatter egg layers and like rough rocks best for there eggs. I use a cinder block ( 70 gallon) but will not fit that 10 gal , just find a broken piece , one side of one that will do well.

Live crickets don't have much nutrition, but you can buy canned mini-crickets that are pre-cooked to use as treats.
