question Regarding lighting

I am buying a used hood from someone tomorrow for my 36 gallon tank. It is a standard aquarium hood. I read on one of these forums that you can remove the glass from under the light
so the turtles get the light they need. Is that safe to have the exposed light and how do I do the heating element with the standard aquarium hood? please and thank you

Removing the glass is for the UVB to be unfiltered. You cannot not use a bulb for heat in a standard aquarium hood. I would probably skip the hood, unless you want it for another reason.

Usually we all use two separate light fixtures and bulbs. Like clamp lights.
