Night Heat Lamp Recommendations?

My RES often likes to sleep on his basking area, but I've moved to a cooler area (in the North East) and am concerned about air temperatures as winter approaches. His water is heated and he has a day basking lamp - but what's recommended as a basking area heating source for nights?

I've researched red and "moon" colored lights as well as ceramic "bulbs" and heated pads, but don't feel I've found a definitive answer on what's best. I don't want to disturb him with light, but also want to make sure he's warm!

Thank you!

He doesn't go back into the water to sleep when the lights are off? It shouldn't be necessary to have a night time lamp.
