Habitat - Indoor :: Won't go on new basking area :(

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Jeffrey my RES got too big for his basking platform that I had for him (it was just a bought one that floats with the support of suction cups, made of some kind of foam type stuff). We used that old one as a ramp up to the new basking "box" (plywood, with one side plexiglass, all on the top of his tank- my husband made it and it's quite nice!) But he won't go up there anymore! He used to bask so much now he refuses to even try and go up there. I have put him up there a couple times and he just jumps right back into his water. I'm worried he's not drying off. Any tricks to get him comfortable or to lure him up there? I was thinking maybe covering part of the top and the plexiglass part so it's secluded? He does get quite nervous if you walk by him when he's basking, so I thought seclusion might help? Thoughts? Thank you!!

How easy is it for him to get up there? How are the lights positioned?

It's actually easier for him to get up there then it was on the old basking area. The warm light is shining down on the part where he would be like normal, it's just not ask close as it was before, maybe I should make a cut in the wood and lower the light so it's closer? Maybe it's not as warm?

Have you taken the temperatures? Can you post a picture of the setup? It's not unusual for them to be reluctant of new basking areas.

Turtles hate change, as long as the temp are okay it may take them weeks to get used to a new basking area. Make sure it has enough privacy so that they feel safe.

I'm not really sure how to post a picture, so we'll see if this works!
