Spray paint?

My turtle always tries to swim i dont know how to say, but endlessly towards the glass. *The tank is of proper size, i just think it doesnt know that its not really going... anywhere lol.
Can i spray paint the outside of it black? (just the back and sides, obviously not the front) so that it sees that its nothing out there and just a "solid wall"?
I dont really want to get aquarium background and deal with tape/glue or it getting ruined by water splashing off.
If it is okay, i will drain the tank and put all the inhabitants in a plastic tub while it dries
Thanks!

People do paint their tanks. I'd be leery of spray paint and instead get something you can brush on. With spray paint, you are likely to get paint inside the tank, no matter how careful, and you don't want those chemicals dissolving int the water.

I think it will still do it. The back of my tank has a simple blue background, the sides have privacy film. But they will still try to swim through it.. and probably will one day :D

I agree with Steve. Not sure if it would stop the swimming? Sure you can spray paint it. You can srarch "How to spray paint a fish tank" on youtube for ideas. Make sure to cover the top with plastic and tape so no overspray gets inside. Clean the glass with windex or acetone. Several light coats of paint are better than one heavy one. I'm not sure I would do the sides. Just painting the back looks good. I used flat black but when you look through the glass it looks glossy. I have painted the back of several tanks black. It looks sharp if you have white sand as substrate.

What about Plastidip? Still take the precautions of painting but much easier restoring to the original condition. Or, use a paper background :)

Plastidip Steve? Isn't that expensive stuff? Does it come in spray?

Yes, it's in a spray. It's not too expensive and you'd probably need just one coat.

Well that's cool. I knew they made a dip but spray can is a new one on me.

Just use a permanent marker, or duct tape and a trash bag. It'll look classy... I promise

The Dip in a can is a better idea, I forgot they had that.
@ Otis... I think at one time I did use a trash bag :)

You can just use window tint from the auto store. It goes on easy and you can remove it easily.

Window tint sounds like a good idea!
