Habitat - Indoor :: Reddish brown stuff in the filter

For Some reason I have begun having this reddish brown stuff accumulating in my filter in both of my tanks. There does'nt seem to be any in the water its self. One tank is crystal clear the other is a lil cloudy. Never had this problem before but I have moved from PA to Las Vegas and the water is VERY different here.

Could it be your turtle's poop? or some slime/sludge from uneaten food in the tank?

Can you post a picture? Most likely its just filter mulm, organic matter (poop/food etc) trapped by your filter and breaking down.

I cant post a pic. Its almost like red algae. I can see it on the inside of 1 of the tanks now. Its all in the inside of the tubes and all. I was wondering if it was good stuff or bad. My turtles are healthy, finally starting to shed their shells, they haven't really done that in a long time.

I have it in my tubes as well. It's just algae and hasn't seemed to cause my turtle any trouble with health issues yet. Once a month I clean out the tubes when I clean the filter and have rigged up a bottle type cleaning brush attached to a stretched out coat hanger.
