Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I have rinsed it and squeezed it in the tub, the showers and the sink multiple times but still it gives out black water. If i put it in the filter, my whole tank is going to have black water, is that even safe for the turtles? how do I get it to where it's clear like in the manual it says to rinse until clear but how long? Do you guys rinse it forever?

I don't think you can reuse it. From a different topic:

VeipaCray wrote:Yes fill the media trays with as much bio media as will physically fit. You don't need to use the Rena stars, they are expensive. Any brand ceramic media will do. Aquatraders.com has cheap bio rings.

It's ok if the purigen bag doesn't cover the entire tray. The purigen is the least important filter media.

Yes, if you aren't pre-filtering your water through carbon, it's best to include some carbon along with the purigen in that tray.

Biochem zorb is essentially purigen and carbon mixed together. Purigen is synthetic resin beads. Biochem zorb is also synthetic resin beads mixed with carbon. The only problem with zorb (aside from price) is hat you can't clean it and reuse it like you can with having a seperate bag of purigen.

Toss the bag of zorb in with the purigen for now and you'll be good in the chemical media tray.

I'm using filter pads, bio media, Purigen and carbon.

It's brand new, it says on the manual to rinse it until the water is clean but it keeps out giving black colored water due to the carbon i guess?
