My my, that must be the tiniest tank I've ever seen :( It's more the size of a feeding tank.

Here's a picture of my tank. They're never in the land part, ungrateful bastards... It's too small though, and I'm about to build something bigger.

i think ur ramp is too steep and there are no heat lights on the land area encouraging them to go to it. and its a good idea to go bigger :)

The ramp works just fine - they're up there all the time basking. It's just that they refuse to go further than the ramp. And yes, they do have a basking lamp, it just doesn't show in the pic - I moved it to the ramp when I realized that they didn't use the land part ;)

I made a misstake when I ordered the pond - I thought it was bigger. I didn't think about the planting shelfs (or whatever you call them). Doh...

I was inspired by you guys to build a semi-atba. I wanted to go pretty cheap with it because this is an "intermediate" tank, 40 gal breeder tank which I hope will fit my turtle for the next nine months or so.

The wife brought home a (massive) Marineland Penguin 350 filter and in order for it to operate correctly, the water level had to rise to a point where the turtle might be able to climb out.

But he likes the floating basking log, so I decided to build a semi-atba instead of the full atba.

The eggcrate cuts perfectly around the filter, and then the basking "safe zone" is another 9" of wood, brass screws, and wire mesh. The mesh holds the lights.

In many respects it's sorta "ghetto", but I just wanted a safe rigging for the basking area cover.

Lowe's, in the back of the store around other odd building materials. I mentioned this in another thread because I spent a long time looking around the lighting department, but it wasn't there, it was way in the back behind the lumber. And it was like $3 for a big sheet of it.

Wow, thanks Undertoad, really appreciated.

I don't have pictures at the moment, but, for Sadie, we took a typical storage bin, cut out one side and flipped it over in the tank like a cave. We have a big rock sitting on it to hold it down, which she can get up on really easily. And this is her new basking dock. It's not very aesthetically pleasing, but it gives her a place to hide. Of course now the tank is half full... Which means that the stupid filter we got yesterday, won't work with that shallow of water. Which means getting my money back, and buying the Fluval which I should have done in the first place.

I'm just happy she has a basking dock, I was worried about that more than anything else.

Next thing on the list is a heat bulb...

This basking area doesn't look as pretty anymore lol. I had to take off the grass because it was clogging the filter =\ I'm going to add a background or something soon though. What do you guys suggest for the floor of it? Since it's now just scratched up plexiglass..

Some simple terrarium liner should work out pretty well. I use for my ATBA and I haven't had any issues with it.
