What's the distance of the bulb to the basking area? Remember, should be able to adjust it accordingly.

I dont have an above tank basking area set up yet... thats why I take my turtles out back to bask... minus the musk turtle. She never liked basking when I gave her a place to.

You do need some sort of basking area, it doesn't need to an ATBA.
