Still aggressive

I have to admit I am amazed at how my turtle acts. In fact it started snapping today. You could actually hear it snapping its mouth shut. I hate to say it but I don't know why this keeps happening. Everytime someone handles the turtle (which is mainly me but once in a great while my parents will) the turtle is always trying to bite us. Its mouth is always open and ready to strike and it isn't a hi I'm opening my mouth to breathe bit, it's a hi I'm ready to bite you now bit.

I have to find out a way to stop this because when the turtle gets bigger, if this keeps up, I will have to either give the turtle to a zoo or something because I simply cannot risk someone losing a finger over my turtle's overly aggressive behavior. It has bit me before and so I try to be extra careful around it. Is there anything I can do to stop this? It was mentioned that maybe I don't handle the turtle enough bit I always thought it was best just to leave the turtle be.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

How long to you interact with Mikey in a single day? It is unusual for a RES to be so aggressive against people, though I sometimes have to pick up my female RES from behind or else I'd get bitten.

Most days interaction is just me feeding him. Though he is in my bedroom so he sees me constantly. About once a week I'll take him out to look him over for health problems or like yesterday to do a water change and I didn't want him to eat the fish that were in the tank when the water levels got low enough for everyone to be a little cramped.
