This is strange.

Lately I've been noticing some green spots on the tank and some of it has gotten on Prometheus' shell. I imagine it's algae, but I've never had an algae problem before. The only difference I can think of is I put an anacharis plant in there (kind of a mistake i found out). If it is an algae problem, what can I do?

Prometheus is around 5 - 5.5 inch turtle with a 55 gallon tank and i'm using a xp3 and I checked the purity of the water and, for the most part, it's good.

I've had an aglae problem since about week 4. It just means a little extra scrubbing each week.

Are you leaving your lights on longer? Sometimes that can cause it.

Some people use additional chemicals to cut down on the algae, but I haven't because I don't like adding anything to the environment.

How long are the tank lights on? Is there any direct sunlight near the setup? You can always scrub some algae off the shell with a toothbrush.

What's the temp of the water? To lessen the amount of nutrients in the water, you could feed out of the tank.

I use an old towel to wipe algae off my RES.
