My red eared sliders are sleeping for a week at a time and then I wake them up for a hour swim and then let them go back to sleep again. Is this OK for partial brumation. They are 4 & 5 years old. During this time they do not eat. Some help here would be appreciated.

I have had them almost a year. The younger one had an issue with her plastron so she had to be out of the water for months to heal and that is why they went into brumation I believe. I was going to leave them for another week and then slowly wake them up. Does that sound OK?
I don't know all the details of how they were kept, nor do I familiarize myself with the brumation process. Slowly waking them up should be the right way to go, but I don't know when and how.
