General Care Discussion :: Is turtle’s shell healthy?

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hello,
I’ve read a lot on line about shell health and diet.
Galileo is about 10 years old, bought in Prague, CZ. He lives in a 500litre tank on his own. Has UV bulb and basking dock.
He is fed a mixture of dried fish and bugs, pellets and greens.
I am concerned about his shell, see photo. I would welcome any opinions on his health. We have no access to a vet with any knowledge of reptiles. Thanks

Looks like he's going through melanism. His eyes will get darker, his skin will become greyer, and some of the stripes on his skin will fade or look like dots. It's fairly typical for male sliders.

You don’t see any signs of shell rot?

The picture is a bit small, but it looks fine.
