I was wondering how often a RES will shed their scutes? The lady that had Mikey before me kept him in a 20 gallon tank with the basic baby turtle setup u get when u buy them. U know the rock filter and the small rock basking thing and a light that wasn't even a real uv bulb or heat bulb. I have since gotten new bulbs, am in the process of building him a on top basking platform and also will be getting him a new filter asap. He is in a huge clear rubbermaid tub and it has plenty of water and space for him to swim and since I live in Northern Alabama I take him outside alot to bask in the real sunshine and he loves it. But I was wondering how often they shed their scutes

It's real hard to say, though it seems like it should be annually. Slow, normal growth and lots of basking are key factors.
