Hi,

I have 2 RES turtles. One of them is doing great (Great shell, active) while the other one is active, it seems like there is an issue with it's shell. It doesn't seem like it's fungus as i've tried to scrub it gently to see if it gets removed but it doesn't seem like it is. I figured it looks like hard mineral deposits as well as overfeeding when it was smaller (Indentation on the shell left and right side). Could someone take a look and see what it could be? And possibly any solutions to get her shell better?

Are the spots soft? Any slimy feel? Any unusual odor? I would keep your turtle out of the tank and dry for a few hours then re-inspect the spots for softness, slime, odor, etc.

He's been like that for a year. No softness on his shell. No slimy Ness and no odor

Looks like fungus. You can't really get it off with scrubbing, you need something like silver sulfadiazine cream.

Are you sure? I have another turtle who shares the same tank and he hasn't gotten fungus for the past year. I'll try using the sulfadiazine method. Could you direct me where to go for instructions?

Must be lucky if it's not spreading. Search my post history for instructions, but basically I prefer to dry dock and treat overnight. How much time you can put into it might also play a factor.
