Hi there! I'm a new turtle owner and recently noticed my turtles shell doesn't look the same and had gotten darker in a certain spot. It was like that for a few days and then overnight the dark spot became bigger. Does anyone know what it could be? Is it because of shedding or is it something bad? Should he be taken to a vet? When I first got him he wasn't taken care of well and I'm very worried!

Are you sure you don't see any scutes floating around ? Looks like it is scute by scute so I'm wondering if it's just shedding.

I haven't seen any scutes floating around, but yeah its definitely getting darker scute by scute.

It does look like some older scutes came off, which is great news.
