Hi . Please I need suggestions I have a fairly young turtle around 1 year old and for 3 months we had a problem with electricity so whenever I bought a heat lamp it would blow so he went without it for to long! He has slight shell rot signs on his back. What is the best method to cure this ?

What type of fixture you have , it take a special ceramic type? https://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Aquatic- ... ht+fixture

Young turtles normally have softer shells until they grow some. Best method is prevention , good habitat and good balance diet. We all think we have the best and I have been doing this over 50 years and we all can do better , even me. I tell you from experience it cost money for a good setup that's why I a fan of DIY projects.

Do you have any other electrical issues around the house? A ceramic fixture like litefoot mentioned is very important and you need to use the correct wattage bulb.
