General Care Discussion :: SPT yearling's bottom beak came off

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

So my little buddy taco has been holding his mouth open for the past month or two. When I noticed this I immediately put him in quarantine and I kept a close eye on him. I noticed his mouth was getting wider and wider and that really freaked me out, I was thinking it was mouth rot until I noticed his bottom beak was coming up and wedged his mouth open. It slowly started to come off until I found a fry chewing on it (my convicts breed and I give the fry to my turtles). Now his mouth is still open but only a little bit. It seems like it just has a lack of support. How long should it take for it to grow back and should I keep him quarantined? Also I've been adding API turtle fix to be safe, should I keep that up? Please any advice would be awesome I'm worried about my little taco

I would definitely get him to a Vet tomorrow. Infection , rot , ...?

Depending on how bad it might be, a vet visit might be a good idea. Some RES do get mouth rot, and beaks can chip, I'm not sure about a whole piece.
