Hey guys,

These past couple of months, my turtle has been clawing at her neck, I've attributed this to her skin shedding as her scutes have also been falling off.
However today I noticed a tear on one side of the neck where she has been scratching herself. It's not a large tear, however I wanted advice on what to do.

Also you should probably know that my city's water is really hard and frequently leaves residue on her shell. Could this be what's been irritating her skin so much, and if so what do you suggest I do?

Doesn't look too bad but she shouldn't really be clawing at herself. Does she bask? Maybe dry docking her for a few hours a day?

As the basking surface in the aquarium is rather small, she is often dry docked next to it for a couple of hours everyday.
She seems not to be scratching herself when submerged and only scratches herself when she is on dry land or when immediately placed from land to water.

The dry docking and handling might be adding some extra stress. How big is the tank?
