Hey All!

So I've got a female red eared slider who I've had for 8.5 years now. She started laying infertile eggs when she was 5. I can usually tell she's ready because she gets really restless, digs around the rocks in her tank, and tries to escape. In the past she would usually lay 2-3 clutches each summer, but this past summer she didn't lay any. Now it's mid winter and she seems to be behaving like she's going to nest again. Is it possible for her to be nesting this time of year? Is it normal? If anyone has any stories or advice feel free to share!

Thanks :)

If she's kept indoors year-round, then yes she can become gravid at anytime. Did she previously make her nests outside?

No not normally! She laid eggs once outside but otherwise she always lays them in her tank

As long as it's not a constant thing and she's able to expel them, then she should be fine :)
