My RES basking area is 98 degrees . Is that too hot for them with the water temperature being 78 degrees . My lamp is about 10 inches above the basking area . If it is too hot could i put a less wattage bulb in to drop the temperature . Thanks

Paulie,
I keep my basking area in the low 90s. 98 is not too hot if the basking area allows the turtle to get closer or farther from the heat source in order to regulate temperature. I use flood lights as opposed to spotlights in my basking area. If you are concerned a lower wattage bulb may be used to decrease the temperature. I hope this helps.

Thanks bro . The one still bask on it the other one loves the water . I was concerned cause i read the basking area should only be 10 degrees warmer then the water and mine is 20 . But they seem to like it so as long as they do i guess i will leave it alone . Thanks again

At that size, I would keep a close eye on it but it should be fine.
