Hi,

My RES is about 1.5-2 years old

Today, I noticed something weird going on with his shell.
I've been extraordinarily busy this past week so I have no idea what this actually started, just noticed it today.

I am sincerely hoping that it is just shedding - as when I push down on his shell slightly I can see water underneath the first lining and when I scrape it up gently it is coming off
but any other thoughts?!

if there's something wrong with him, even by minimal chance, I want to fix it right away

Could be fungus or a bacterial infection. I'd do a light cleaning and can you post a picture of the shell when dry? This would be a good time for him to shed.
