General Care Discussion :: Gender uncertainty

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

My RES has been living as a male for about a year and a half - I think he is finally old enough to determine gender. I'm admittedly awful at figuring it out on my own - anyone want to chime in?

My guess is male, but as I already admitted... not great at it.

Also - any comments on overall healthy appearance for a 1.5yr old RES?

Looking pretty healthy. I would guess male too... he's half-way there. Get ready to see more dramatic changes :)

My girlfriend has been picking on me for being so hesitant to use gender specific pronouns or even his name. Now I feel better about it - I wouldn't want to give the poor fella a gender identity crisis!
