General Care Discussion :: My turtle is acting jumpy

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

I have had my red eared slider for about 4 years I recently upgraded her tank to a 55 gallon, I also made an above tank basking area out of egg crate. She hasn't gone in there on her own so I've placed her inside to see how she would react to it. After a few minutes she started acting jumpy like randomly clawing in front of her face as if she's trying to swat something away, I have never seen her do that so I'm a little worried that something might be wrong. I'm not sure if this is connected to the fact that she hasn't eaten her food in some time this has happened before but after a day or two she would start to eat again but as of now she hasn't. If anyone has some advice or ideas of what could be wrong I would appreciate the help

Has any of the lighting/uvb/heat setup changed as well? Some RES don't like the eggcrate ATBA, you might need to make it look more natural.
