with a soft toothbrush to take of algae since the prev. owner never cleaned his tank he has alot of algae on him. i know not to use soap at all so you have that info. :P

and also anybody know how to cool the water cause it starts rising to 80 in the evenings but rarely gets to 80. and since summers coming i kinda wanna know.

so dave can have a good life. :)

You can do it, but you need to do so carefully because he might scratch and claw while being handled.
