Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Okay so I am very aware of the difference between male and female turtles (claws and tail). I keep my male RES in one tank and my female RES and my female YBS in another tank together. All 3 of the turtles were adopted from owners who were not taking care of the fellows. My 2 females are kept in a 220 gallon tank with about 130 gallons of water.

I recently came home to my yellow belly slider female fluttering her (short female claws) in my female red eared sliders face. I thought this was just territorial behavior so I ignored it because my RES is passive and just swims away, however!!!! I saw my FEMALE ybs try to insert her short tale in my res in a doggy style position. I'm not sure if my ybs is showing dominance or if she is swinging the other way. I really need help.

Maybe it was some sort of dominance thing. I think I recall it being discussed on the site before but people often get the sexing wrong as well. Is the YBS constantly harassing her?
