General Care Discussion :: Weirdly Shaped Egg

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Sun May 03, 2015 6:49 pm   Weirdly Shaped Egg

Hello!

My turtle, John (we thought she was a boy), just laid some eggs (unfertilized) tonight. She laid them on her topper, where her day/night lights are. One was kind of dented looking and an orange/yellow-ish color. All of the other ones have looked fine. Should I be concerned about her because of this egg?

Thanks for your help!

Hi Jessie, I'm not sure if I would worry about it. It's good that she expelled them. How big/old is she?

She's going to be four in June. This is her first time laying eggs, actually. Thank you so much for your response!

Did she exhibit nesting signs before? It's possible the eggs were retained a bit first.

Just a heads up, you will probably have to separate them soon. When you notice any aggressive behavior or harassment, you need to make your move.
