Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Hi everyone,

I'm a new RES owner, I have 2 hatchlings named Spazz and Rocky. I posted another question about Spaz b/c he had a small white area on his shell, and am treating him, but this morning I noticed that Rocky's neck looked like he was shedding. Because I'm a new RES owner I'm not really sure what it looks like to shed & whats "normal." I've googled pictures but they didn't really help.

Could someone help me and tell me if this is normal and if not then what it is?

Thanks!!

Looks like it. Thin, translucent and wispy are hallmarks of skin shedding.

I have another question about my turtle shedding. My turtle has been shedding all over ever since I posted the picture. When I see him under the water I can see the extra skin floating off. I wasn't sure if I should leave him be and let the skin fall off, or if there is something I could do?

Thanks :)

You should let it fall off, on its own.

I would net it out/wipe it off the tank when you can. Once it dries up/builds up it can be a pain to clean off.
