Um...have you tried cleaning your tank?
If you let it go for a long time it'll get nasty like that...

I don't know because I always take all the water out and clean the bottom with White Vinegar...maybe you should try that.

How big is your tank? and how many turtles?

Is it actually stuck to the tank? It may be algae. I have rocks on the bottom of my tank, so I never see it, but for the day or so it was empty I noticed after I feed him there would be some pellet debris and maybe some poo on the bottom.

when you clean tou should usually do a complete water change. that brown stuff is just like a poo/ algee just whipe it off. i have a 50 gallon tank and i do a complete water change once a week. people are aloways telling me that there turts stink and are filthy. then they come over and see mine and cant believe it. they can be dirty critters if not cleaned up after vigeriously.

Doing partial water changes is ok for awhile but at some point usually around a month you'll have to fully clean the tank, take everything out and give it a good cleaning. What size tank do you have again??
