Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

We have 3-4 year old slider about 7 inches. She is in a 40 gallon tank, 36" tank. We are planning on upgrading to something larger in the summer. Some days she is super active, swimming back and forth, putting her head above the water and trying to climb the glass. Is this normal or could she be stressed about something? She eats like a horse. There are days that she basks most of the day and is very mellow. The temp is 80 degrees. We feed her red leaf lettuce and peas (these are the only two veggies we have gotten her to eat) for three meals in two days. Then the end of the second day she gets a large protein meal. I thought maybe she was hungry and not getting enough nutrition but the big meal doesn't seem to make a difference with her frantic behavior. Is this something to be concerned about?

Does she act that way when no one is there?

I actually usually find her basking after we have left the office where tank is.

Could just be the typical begging behavior. Do you feed her at consitant times?

Try to spend more time with her to lessen the stress. :msgreen:
