General Care Discussion :: Revision

Taking care of your turtle's overall health.

Post Posted: Thu Jul 04, 2013 10:25 pm   Revision

There is no one to blame. [----] happens.

This is what I observe.

Old turtles, more slowpoke.
In other words, easily drown.
Even they are much stronger, but.. I don't think so.

The point is, many of my turtles die because of drowning.
I have had enough. I buy aquarium that is this big, THIS IS THE CASE.

If only, I stay in my COMFORT ZONE, and just put my turtles in small aquarium.
THEY CANNOT DROWN, I change the water everyday, quiet painful. It's fine anyway.

Therefore, it's ok to GET OUT from COMFORT ZONE, but once I learn this..
I regret, and look back. I learn the hard way.

For those of you, who think that 1 inch turtle shell = 10 gallon.
I'm truly ok, when the deep of water is NOT DEEP ENOUGH TO MAKE TURTLES DROWNING.

I JUST DON'T KNOW WHY THEY KEEP DROWNING, I TRY TO OBSERVE AND SEE IF THERE IS ANY RI SIGN. BUT THEY HAPPILY EAT AND SWIM.

So here I AM, I DON'T WANT TO DIE BY DROWNING, and seeing my love one die like this,
my heart cannot take it but BLAME AND SCREAM LIKE A .... WHO HAS LOST THE PRECIOUS ONE.

INDEED, NOT EVERY METHODS THAT EXPERTS GIVEN YOU IS REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY TRUE.
Having a good aquarium, having a good filter, doesn't guarantee your pet's life. That's it.

Live the life, discover things, that's my motto.
AND THIS IS WHAT I DISCOVER: put safety first.

What if there is muscle cramp in Turtle, we still not sure.

Only 2 left, from 8. Each year, each time, slowly, one by one, left me.
I mean, how could this be, and all drowning..

Thanks for everyone, who have been supporting me all the time in the past.
I still remember, how shy am I in the past, how I trouble alot of you too.
I'm grateful..

Right now, I'm here supporting you guys.
It's your job now, to contemplate and think.. that life is beautiful.
That poor statement can rise up, that poor theory can rise up, sometimes they are right, sometimes they are wrong.
That's how life is now..

Good luck, everybody. I wish you well.

Sounds like something else is going on here. As I read it 6 turtles drowned? There has to be a reason behind it. Aquatic turtles don't just drown. At least not that I'm aware of. As long as they can get out of the water and there is no place they can get trapped they should be fine.

Another question, who made the assessment that the turtles drowned? To what extent were they examined?

Drowning is quite uncommon in aquatic turtles, and I have one that very nearly did after my pump intake came off and she was stuck there for an unknown length of time. She pulled through fine, even though I thought she was dead for five minutes and suspected she wouldn't make it for a few hours. Very scary.

Not counting the parent thread from last July, I think the only other occasion I've heard of is a turtle that got caught under some rocks. You'll be hard pressed to find a non-preventable instance.

they are not drowning; i'm sorry.. pardon my past..
i feel so cringe right now -

turtle cpr didn't make it.. http://www.turtleforum.com/forum/upload ... urtle-cpr/
back then, it was so hard for me to accept it; thus i blame drowning instead

lesson learnt is that they need sun, foods, and clean water.

it's a journey i will say.. having RES as a pet is not easy.. i have seen RES with edematous swelling on youtube, it breaks my heart..

i will be active again soon; right now i still have two of my turtles from back then..
one is active, and the other one refuse to eat - i separate already, just in case.
