Today when my RES was basking i went to go see him and he started twitch (atleast i think he was)
He turned his head a few times fast. Then one of his front paws went in his shell fast then came back out fast. then he started to move his front leg like he was swimming fast.
it freaked me out i don't think he was scared of me cause he woulden't do it if i threw my hands in the air or i moved my head quickly.
This is my first time seeing this, His behavior has not changed the only diffrence that i noticed today that he was basking at 10:00 pm when he started to do it and he usaully only basks in the morning and never at night.
I also did not feed himtoday it was one of his off days
Please respond quick i am worried about him

How am i suppose to relax when i see something that my turtle has never done before and looks strange when it can be something seroius. This is my first turtle so i don't know whats normal and whats not so why don't you just keep your dumb comments to yourself and don't post anything unless it's going to help me.

I understand your concern and I'm really glad you asked this question.

It was a behaviour that seemed weird to me too when I first saw my turtles do it. It's nothing serious so you shouldn't worry about it.

The best way to explain it is to think of it like they are stretching after a long relaxing basking session. Maybe it's because they don't move for a long period of time and maybe their legs go numb so they twitch to get the blood flowing again. I did my best at trying to explain it, I hope it helps.

@Sir Max - I wouldn't consider it weird even if he was watching his turtle all the time. It's normal if it's your first time owning a turtle. He obviously wants to observe his behaviour and know what's normal and what's not; this way you'll know that when you see your turtle acting weird he/she might be having a problem.

But i looked up it on google and found that someone said it might be a bone disease is that true?

Okay i hope someoen dose cause i have not got him a UVB light bulb yet i might get him one tommorw but i don't know me and my dad are still looking around.

He's eating, right? No unusual behaviour otherwise?

No he's eating fine he loves his pellets and i sometims give him crickets.... until they all died unexpectedly. He hates vegetables thought.
And no wierd behavior he acts normal other then the whistling i hear comming out of his nose which i don't really know what it is do you?

More info on the whislting:
He only dose it when he comes up to breathe for air its a some what quiet noise it sounds like a whistle that would come out of a humans nose if it was clogged. He started doing it about 3 days ago

I would keep an eye on that whistling.

Does he swim fine? Do you see a lot of bubbles coming out of his mouth (not when he breathes out normally, but like an excessive amount of bubbles)?

Yeah i told my dad about it but he said he will be fine which i find it hard to believe. He's swimming fine and he never makes bubbles, the only bubbles i see if when he slides off of his basking dock and into the water and they said its normal
