All one of my turtles does is bask. He doesn't ever really swim or go into the water. My other turtle (we got them at the same time) is very active, he swims, basks and eats like crazy. Could there be something wrong?

Does he have an appetite or any other symptoms besides excessive basking? How long have you had him?

Is this new behavior or has anything changed in your setup recently?

I just got him about a week ago. He hardly eats. He just basks.

It could be a sign of adjustment. Are there any wheezing, mucus, rots, swollen eyes going on at all? Have you tried to place him in the water? How well is he swimming?

What are the temperatures?

No weezing or such. I have placed him in the water several times. He swims just fine. Im not sure of the water temp yet. =\ I couldn't buy the water heater and thermo due to problems. That will all be purchased this coming Friday since it's payday.

Then it is most likely that he is adjusting to the new enviroment
Keep offering foods (seperately) such as worms, crickets, aquatic plants, veggies, apple snails, and pellets soaked in tuna juice.

Thermometers only cost a dollar or 2. As Jessica wrote, keep offering foods - the more colorful, smelly and squiggly - the better. Also try small feeder fish like guppies and minnows (help him catch it if necessary)
