Does anyone have a filter with a biowheel? It's the one that I have and they say that its normal for it to change colors, but mind is like very green, and it starting to get this foamy looking mold on it, I guess that's what it is. Any suggestions? It says that it doesn't need to be replaced, but I REALLY want to after looking at it today.

I've never used mine, lol. Is it possible to scrub it with a toothbrush and scrap the stuff off?

Yeah, but I'm afraid it will just come right back. I may just get rid of it.

Is there high humidity where you are? If so, it sounds like heat and humidity are causing mold/mildew.

It could definitely contribute to it.

I have one of those, and it's not supposed to get moldy! They say that it will show discoloration over time, and to just rinse it off really well. However, mold is not good, and I would throw it out...

I use one on my fish aquarium, and I usually have to get a new one every 6 to 12 months.
