Just be aware that the further away you have the bulb, the less your turtle benefits from the UVB rays. With some bulbs, more than 12 inches away, and the turtle isn't benefiting much at all. Many experienced turtlekeepers give the 6-8 inches an ideal distance.
The positioning of the light (clamping, hanging, etc.) is also important.
