I have two red year sliders, both 50 years old, male and female.
both had shell rot over last year that I got under control with antiseptic scrubs. no more white rot. on the male, the shell has been turning yellow in splotches
What is happening here. He was green before.

Could be some sort of melanism, though in most cases the shell becomes darker. Has the skin appearance also changed? Are you certain you have a male pictured?

no skin change, yes this is the male.
he lost some of his outer shell plates from the shell fungus in these areas. that white fungus (rot) occurred about 16 months ago, and took until recently for it to resolve, he got antiseptic scrubs on shell, dry time under lamp etc...
i wonder if these will darken as shell grows thicker?
he is active and eats well
the female also had fungus, but not as bad, her shell remains dark green, but she did not shed as many shell plates as he did.

He looks to be in great shape for a 50 year old. If this is melanism-related, you'll be seeing more changes in the shell and skin.
