Turtle pants is an energetic and hungry guy. His previous owner didn't give him a nice environment, but he now has a UVB/UVA bulb . Turtle Topper for staying dry, Fluval 406 , currently in a full 55 gallon. PH is 7.6. He loves cuttlebone and pellets with worms. shell scutes come off steadily, they seem hard and dont have odor.

His shell doesn't look good when he basks. Looks much better under water. I was going to try some remedies, but thought it would be best to get an option before making guesses. Here are some pics. Thanks for your input

The white flaky stuff is from fungus. When it's thin and comes off easily, it's just an unsightly problem. Unfortunately it spreads fast and when the old stuff sheds, its already infected the fresh scutes below. You'll want to look into silver sulfadiazine cream in which you only need a small amount and it should work quicker than most remedies.
