Ive had my turtle for about three or four years now, hes a painted turtle and has everything he needs in his tank. About at week ago i got a new resue turtle and he died, he must have been sick because he didnt eat but he also didnt act sick. Now my turtle isnt eating, hes basking more then usual, and he doesnt beg for food. But he doesnt look sick, hes still alert. Please help. Theres also black little worms but after looking it up i think theyre bug larve, but thwyre new.

Did you quarantine the new turtle? A must to me. If straight in tank never know what it may be carrying ... or have. This is just me but I would make a temporary home and break down the four years old home. Clean it and filter also very well !!!

I would try small amounts of everything safe to see if he will take something. ( can tuna / live worm...etc )

Would need more signs to tell what's wrong. Could be anything BUT with other one that died ...observation's are key now. Maybe someone on the forum will have a guess for now. Bug larve...? Can you post a picture ?
