Shell Rot, shedding, or something else?!

Hi there, today is the first day that I have noticed a large area of discoloration on the shell of my yellow bellied slider. Yesterday I noticed slight discoloration thinking it might be the shedding of the shell. Is this early shell rot, a fungus, or simply shedding? This is my first turtle and I have no clue if I should be very worried or if this will be happening when he is shedding. Thanks!

Most of it looks like shedding. As long as the shell is smooth and more vibrant underneath, then you're fine.

Thanks! :) Yes, "he" is a cutie pie. Wish we could tell their sex so young, but I guess I'll have to wait until he's older. I think 1 year was what I read? I would think even larger though.

Needs to be around 4", though males might show characteristics a bit sooner.
