Hi, I recently have noticed my turtle breathing above the water often and am hearing bubble constantly coming from her.

She or he has a six inch shell
I've had her for four years

74 currently but have 200w heater on way
Have thermometer
2 20w heaters but I don't think there doing it
50 gallon
Have water conditioner
Have filter

90 degree basking
Yes on light
Yes for climbing onto
Stone
Yes uvb- it's a mercury vapor bulb

3ft wide by 1.5 ft height by 1.5 ft depth Water stops at middle cause filter hole ( I didn't buy the tank)
Yes window
No busy

Yes basic care
Yes search

Does it have rep infection? If I change heating situation in 2 days will turtle need to go to vet sill or will it be fine? I have one nearby but never took it.

Any other symptoms? Do you only hear the breathing noise after a deep/long swim?

Neah she's just was mainly making a lot of bubble last night and putting her head above the water. The water temp in the day should hit 78 with the lamp I have and I think I could pull off some sort of water tans fusion with warmer water at night until the heater come tomorrow. She does have an Appette and is swimming crazy like she normly does.

You might just need to keep a close on her. Has she ever had this happen before?

I have noticed her breathing heavily in the past but it quickly subsided. Should I have a cover of some sort on my tank to enclose more heat or should I leave it open?

Heavy breathing might be more related to being overweight or exerting too much energy. A stable 74f is ok.

Thanks for all your help Steve. No bubbling late so I think that maybe a phase of some sort or something.

Happy swimming,

I hate to say it but she's back at it again tonight bubbling above the water. Water temp is higher now too so I do not think it hat his the problem. I may take her to a vet next week if the probably continues. Any ideas on solutions?

How's the water quality? Are the bubbles coming from her nose?
