I have two red ear slider turtles. One of them has a small amount of blood on the back of its neck. He seems to have stopped bleeding and the blood has dried. Also, the skin on the back of his neck has a white blotch like it has been scrapped and the green layer of skin has peeled off. I noticed the blood today, however a couple days ago I noticed that when he puts his head in his shell and sticks his head out that his skin on his neck rolls up. I have had them for over 5 years now and they have shared a tank the whole time so I do not think that this is due to them fighting. Does this injury seem likes it requires a veterinarian or is their something I can do to help the turtle.

Thank you

I'd need to see a picture to offer an opinion regarding a vet visit. As for fighting... it can happen and usually does. Males in particular always need separation and sometimes the female is very aggressive. The back of the neck is a spot males like to go for.. sometimes during mating rituals, but can also be during aggression. The only other time that part can be injured is if the nuchal scute (right behind the neck) is very long.
