Hello everyone I will try to make this short.

I used to have turtles when I was much younger and am in a place physically (and financially) that I could have one again, so I started shopping around, got a pond, filter, foods, conditioner etc. While I was on Craigslist looking for pond rocks I came across a post with this owner "re-homing" this turtle and all its pond pieces. The pictures they originally had (wish I had saved them) made my heart bleed for this little guy (or girl I can't tell). Long story short, I ended up going and picking her up, I don't know what this turtle has been through but this is all I could get from the people.

The turtle is maybe 7yrs old, they don't know.
The turtle was found in a vacant apartment they rent. (They rented to a couple 7yrs ago and they saw the turtle back then when they argued about pet rent??--if its even the same one)
The apartment had NO tenants for a month and they didnt know it was there until they were cleaning out the apartment and found her with all limbs tucked-in in a closet under some clothes.

So here I am now with this turtle that at first was so crusty/dry/cracked I thought was a goner but I've had her for about 6 days now in the WIP pond and she's done a 180. I definitely think the poor thing was starving she is really light. But today when I was browsing the forum I saw a post about swollen eyes I figured I should do an all body check up. (It took her about 2 days to keep her eyes open all the time, I think from how dry they were.)

I found these dark bruise like spots on her back legs and when I got her to open her mouth it was light pink, not white but not rosy pink either. Other then that I see a little bit of light pink near her mouth, but considering she was just sitting in a clothes pile for a month all curled up could it be bruises? I am currently looking around for a herp vet but I'm asking a few BP breeders I know first if they have any reliable ones.

Also incase anyone is wondering:
day #1 - shy didnt open eyes much, only above water
day #2 -less shy keeps eyes open more
day #3 - Always begging for food and follows you around the pond, eyes open all the time, basks like a pancake limbs splayed and loves eating the cranberries/mealworm, is NOT a fan of red leaf.
day #4-today : same exact behaviors since day 3 and on.

Welcome the forum! Congrats on the rescue. She looks to be in fairly good shape.

I'm not sure it's septicemia, though they do warrant further investigation. You can wait and see what happens (I've seen similar bruises come and go) but I would keep looking for a vet. Antibiotics might be a good idea as a precaution.

So far ive just been feeding her red leaf and Gourmet everday slowly to get her weight up, Ill be looking for a scale today after to work to track it. And yes still looking for reliable herp vet i have a few numbers already.

Antibiotics should be prescribed by a vet. There are several different kinds and dosages may depend on weight/size of the turtle. As for food... as long as she is eating, you can use a regular diet for her but ease into it. No need to "make up" for lost time/feedings.
