Hi!, i've had my turtle from that cheap container and had them for around 3 weeks, I have a basking lamp and a UVB lamp and a healthy diet (pellets, chicken, beef, shrimp). Water temperature are perfect
I only saw my turtle bask ONCE, and i tried to sneak but he seemed to always be in the water..
My turtle's shell is overall soft and the right part of the shell is shaped inwards and there is a bad pyramiding also. the edges also curved upwards.. Idk what's happening with the shell but i'm sure i've taken care of it properly.
He has a great appetite, and swims and sleeps normally.

What have you been feeding him? Can you post a picture of the setup?

i've been feeding pellets and chicken mostly, sometimes beef & shrimp. he doesn't want to eat his veggies though. And i can't post a picture of the setup because i'm not with my turtles right now and in a couple of weeks :( . the shell when i press it is quite soft too.. but I hope it's common for a turtle that small.. also, I finally saw him bask couple of days ago (he ran away when i entered the room)

It can be slightly pliable for hatchlings, but I would look into making the jell-o shot and adding some calcium. The diet had too much protein and while normal for hatchlings to not be interested in veggies, you should look into a good pellet as a staple of his diet.

Great advice from Steve.

I don't really see any pyramiding--although I will mention that excess protein will lead to unnaturally rapid growth and shell curl, which you also described.
