Hi! I'm new to this forum, just joined because of some concerns I had about my turtle. It's eyes are somewhat pink-ish? And I think it may be because of a bad diet/poor conditions and I'd like to know how to treat it. My turtle hasn't been blinking a lot, but she is swimming into the walls and ignoring food, which leads me to believe that she can't see properly. She's swimming towards the bottom of the tank, and whenever she blinks, her eyelid is a white-ish color. I attempted to get a picture of it but she kept moving around. I'm not sure how to fix this, but the pink-ish color seems to have faded a tiny bit as I changed the water today. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How big is your turtle? My turtle is 7 inches
How long have you had it? 6 years.

What is the water temperature? 22 C
Did you use a thermometer? Yes!
Are you using a water heater? I'm using two, actually. I felt that one wasn't enough for the big tank, so I purchased a second one.
How much water is in there? I honestly have no idea. I have included a picture at the bottom of my tank.
Are you using a water conditioner? No
Are you using any filtration? No

What is the basking temperature? No idea.
Is there a basking light? Yes, I'm using an Exo Terra lamp.
Is there a basking platform that is easy to climb on? Yes there is a ramp that comes into the water
What kind is it or what is it made out of? I'm using the Zoo Med turtle doc.
Is there a UVB light? I'm not sure.

What have you been trying to feed it? Pellets. My turtle doesn't like veggies, but I do try and feed it to her when I can.
When was the last time your turtle ate? She ate a little today, like one or two pellets that I had to float by her, otherwise she didn't notice them at all.

How big is the tank/pond/enclosure? Picture below.
Is the tank near a window? Yes, a big glass door.
Is the tank in a room with a lot of activity? No

Have you read the Basic Care section? Not entirely sure where to find it.
Have you searched the forums for similar situations? I have found another thread with a similar question, but found that it did not help me much.

It doesn't look pinkish from the picture. It could from chlorine/chloramines, dirty water, etc. How often do you do water changes? I'd make sure you know exactly what you are using for lighting. There are some that are useless and some that could be harmful.

Unfortunately I had been on vacation, and my mother can't change the tank by herself, so it had been two weeks since the last change.

How often do you normally do it? Were there any issues prior to your vacation?

I normally do a full change once every week! And not really, the turtle was eating fine. Also I checked my bulb, it's an Exo Terra SUN GLO. 120V, 60Hz, 50W. Not sure if it's UVB.

The basic care section is at the top of this page. You really need to read it. At minimal you need to buy a filter and uvb bulb. You also need to treat your water for chlorine and know what the basking area temp is.

Great advice from above. Your Sun Glo only produces UVA and heat, so like Kansas mentioned you should get a good canister filter and a UVB light.

It's possible the white eyelid you're seeing is the one RES normally use when they sleep. I'm not sure what its technical name is, but it's a natural aspect of their anatomy.

I also don't intend to downplay the role of proper husbandry, but the problem may not fully derive from your care conditions. It's possible that your turtle is gravid; your behavioral descriptions sound like a pregnant turtle to me (restless, not hungry).

Thank you for your replies! I found the basic care section, I was looking in the forums for it instead earlier... I will definitely get a filter. Do you have any recommendations as to what kind? And I will also look into getting the UVB light.

She's eating a lot more today and seems to have better spirits! So that's good :)

If your on a budget you can look into something like a sunsun on the upper end fluval makes good filters. I have not looked at your tank size. Keep in mind bigger more gph is better than too small as far as filters go. You def want a cannister filter. Hope your turtle does better. Let us know if anything changes.
