My internet keeps crashing and it's really annoying me, so I'll try make this as short as possible.

At some time between 9am-9pm, the heater in my turtles tank snapped in two beyond repair, I have no idea how.

I have done the following:
Tried my best to keep my room at room temperature in a scottish winter
Draped a towel over the side of his tank facing my window
Put his lid on the tank and sealed it
Placed towels over the areas that the lid doesn't cover to make it as AIRTIGHT AS POSSIBLE
Leaving the light on all night

Now, will making the tank as airtight as possible cause other problems? What should i do?
Cheers

I don't think we need to make it air tight. What's the room temperature? It would be easier to keep the turtle out of the tank and your room warm until this is resolved.

Move another heat light over the water to raise the water temp.
