Hi, My son and I came across a man selling baby slider turtles in the cold with no heating source in tiny tank. I felt so bad I bought the two he had and went about to set up their new home. We have them both in a 40 gallon tank, filled with 25 gallons of purified, filtered water that is heated to 78 degrees with water heater, a basking dock, uvb and heating lamp. They get fed dried shrimp and pellets, and both are about 2 inches long. The problem is today my son noticed the turtle he calls Milo has some sort of growth on hit back leg. It doesnt appear to be fungus growth, its more like a skin tag. He is active but not as much as the other turtle. My son is very upset and worried. I need to find a vet who will see the little guy but I am hoping someone can help me before then to just ease my sons fears until a vet can be found

Thanks
R.H.

Can you add a picture? Also have you tried searching the forum for "skin condition" or something along those lines? You might have luck finding a post about somthing similar with a picture to compare that has information.

We took him to the vet, he was bit by the other little guy Speedy. He is healing great, we will feed them in separate tanks from now on. Thank you!

The pictures are pretty blurry, but that is some serious discoloration. Was the vet a herp vet?

I will try to take a better picture. I am unsure about the vet. I went to a vet emergency clinic and asked to see a vet who specializes in RES turtle care. I will find a regular vet office for the little guys after the holidays because most vet office I called either they don't handle RES turtles or the vet was on vacation.
